Presidential Postdoctoral Associate, Rutgers University

I am historian of nursing, health policy researcher, and Presidential Postdoctoral Associate at Rutgers School of Nursing.
I recently finished my PhD at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, where I was affiliated with the Barbara Bates Center for the Study of the History of Nursing. My dissertation examines the history of Filipino American nurses from 1989-2009. Specifically, I look at how Filipino nurses influence these policies, which range from immigration legislation, professional licensure requirements for internationally-educated nurses, and industry standards for the staffing and recruitment companies that hire nurses internationally.
My work has been supported by the American Association for the History of Nursing, as well as an interdisciplinary set of research centers at Penn, including the Center for the Study of Ethnicity, Migration, and Rights and the Office of Nursing Research.
